Default JRSC installed

what's up!
Just installed a jackson racing supercharger on my Civic EX. The car is pretty fun to drive, but power starts to fall off pretty quick above 4500 rpm. Installation instructions are among the worst I've ever seen in my life. Also added a JR fuel pump. No detonation whatsoever (probably because of our 93 octane St Louis premium gas). Running 11 BTDC. I've posted two pics of the installed s/c; the quality is really bad- sorry. If you look really close you can see how the throttle body has been moved about 150 mm to the left and is slightly angled now; and the intake hose is only about 100 mm long now.

Here's a pic (there was a problem with the first two- they're not opening for some reason). It was taken with a polaroid instant camera So it's blurry.

Jackson Racing said to leave my stock intake and exhaust systems alone; they said I won't gain anything from the aftermarket parts out there. This doesn't make sense to me. Doesn't more air flow mean more hp? Oh well, I followed their advice and left the entire vehicle 100% stock except for the jrsc and jr fuel pump. The 185-65R14 tires work great, except when launching. The stock Honda 14" wheels are just ok. I have a feeling the stock exh manifold is choking the engine.

I bought the kit from Landspeedracing for $2349.99 and the fuel pump from lightning motorsports for $85.00. Overall, yeah I'd say it's worth it... but be forewarned; if you install it yourself with nothing but a jack and hand tools (no power/air tools), intallation is downright nasty! The instructions are absolutely horrible, as there are almost no pics/diagrams. The car definitely feels stronger, especially when ascending hills, but if I replace the stock intake assembly with a short ram intake, who knows? Might be even quicker.

If you're losing gain in the upper RPM's it could be the exact parts JSRC told you not to replace. Open it up a little bit and let it breathe. I'd bet it will make a difference.

Dyno that thing... I'm not real keen on SCs, but I'm happy that you're happy.

Yeah, the more I think about it, the more crazy it seems to keep the stock intake assembly and exh manifold. These were designed to flow the CFM required for the n/a D16 engine. Have you ever taken the heat shield off the stock manifold and looked at the primaries? I swear they're like an inch wide, if even that ! I guess i'll do the intake and header thing first, then maybe dyno it to see what it's puttin out.

What would be the advantages of getting this over a turbo setup? Why are people usually cautious in getting SCs?
