Oh right  yeah so he'll start right off on SM where people spend 10-20K on top of what they paid for the car.

alphaxxn... My advice would be to buy/borrow a beater to take on H-stock. As rick mentioned, most of us regular racers(well, probably all) recommend starting off in a stock class. If you plan to be competitive, it will probably be years before your even close in SM, and thats assuming you've got a top notch suspension and alignment.
Twin3037... why the heck did you buy tires specifically for autocross if youre "just wondering if you want to get into it"? The best way to check it out is to go to your first (several) autocrosses in your car exactly how it is on the road. Don't worry about being competitive, you wont be. No point in buying tires (or anything for that matter) unless you've been at it for long enough to know what your car needs.

From my experience everyone gets the wrong impression about autocross. Meaning the more mods you do the faster you get. Which is true in drag racing, but not so true for autocross.
You can take an expert driver and put him in a 1995 Civic CX and he would prolly beat a novice driver in an S2000. I've seen it.
Also my other saying is that "Spend $1000 on a suspension setup and you may gain .5-1 second on a 60 second course, spend $225 on an Evolution School or $50-100 on Novice School and you can shave off 4-8 seconds on the same course." I know I've done it too.
