no it is a general concensus....I def. like the old HAN much better than all this new crazy hard core moderation, non humor, non slight ot posting mentality

I would rather see more techinical help then updated pictures of someone's ride after every single mod they do.
also While people feel that the their freedoms are denied due to the control in flaming, I think its a must. I would like to see this place stay technical and more of a helpful resource rather than a "your car sucks cuz it has (fill in the ricer part) and doesn't have any (fill in with JDM part)"
Flaming only keeps people from wanting to come back to this place, and although we have many knowledge members here, sometimes we flame those who might prove to have very good knowledge of their vehicles!

 

nobody here was backing flaming....I think what they ment by a hard time was amonst established board members that wanna joke a bit. I agree some picture postings are stupid, but it is a 92+/sol/el board so I dont see why it is a big deal to post a picture of said vehicle without it being teleported instantaniously to Apperance forum (josh :fawk:.)

I agree completely with OC on this one. Like he said, and like I've said many times before, this is just a message board. I'm still kinda baffled about the changes, and the desire to look "professional," but hey, its not my thing to worry about.

canning the smilies is retarded. If you want minimal smilies, go post on HondaTech.

Thats the thing about all these message boards.... HT, HAn, iL, SHO, JDMC, etc.... Each of them is different, each with their own personality. Personally, I feel hondatech is great if you want in-debth technical input. SHO is the place to laugh at riceboys. iL is the postwhore kingdom. JDMC is an awsome place to get alot of neat info and see some bad-ass cars. And somewhere in the middle of it all, is HAn. I think thats why I chose this as my "home" for so long (dec '00, bitches ). Everyone here is cool, even the dumbass noobs Especially the civic forum.

But when it comes down to it, I guess it doesn't matter what we think. We don't have the $$$ involved in it....

I've been around here for a while, have just started posting but have been browsing for a LONG time before I registered and have seen the changes take place... I've agreed with some and disagreed with most, but, guess you can't please everyone.

 

First of all.

We are redoing the board for many reasons, none of them are to irritate or lose any members. I would like to see all member stay.
I can't tell you why all the changes are happening, for one I do not know, second, the Administrators will notify you guys of all the big changes in the form of stickies.

What do I THINK is the goal, have HAN become more tech oriented and maintain the "homely" feeling.

Yes, you log on and there are vast changes, and rules are being applied more often, and perhaps hastly. I can understand your anger/concern on the changes. It may seem odd to be irritated by an online car forum but I've been here since 98 or 99, and a lot of changes have urked me as well.

NO. I must say I was hesitant on moving exterior civic pictures to the apperance/cosmetic forum, but seriously, how bad is it? You have to go to another forum to view pictures of cars sepeartely? It's not as if we are removing them, just in a different section. It's a clean divide, wanna look at eye candy, go there, want something more serious and tech related, come in here.

Why are we being hard on the rules?

I'd hate to pick someone out, but he gave the best example within' this thread! The following isn't a post we want in the civic forum, the basement is where you guys are free to make posts like that. We made many requests (this thread for one) on stopping with the posts like the one below. Everyone is "yeah yeah sure sure, i totally agree." Boom scroll down there it is.

The post above may just be me not liking those types of posts at all, but with a post like that would you take this board to be a serious knowledge database? I wouldn't. Perception is everything.

If anyone has concerns on changes made or the direction of the forum, it's best to voice them instead of bottling it up and holding it in, cause every decision we make after that will just add to that anger, so eventually no matter what we do, you'll never be happy with it. I'd rather have you come out and tell me straight up. My PM window is open, and I'd rather get serious e-mails than spam mail on the e-mail I have listed.

I appologzie before hand if I came across rude or belittled anyone. I made a quick reply to address peoples concerns, I may not of used the best choice of words.

I typed that purposely as a joke towards what the actual topic of the thread was..hence the :rick:

I agree that you cant please everybody and I know you are compassionate towards those that disagree...and hey we all know it doesnt matter what we think anyway....most of us are just more used to a "hang out" atmosphere instead of a "tech only" kinda feel.

 

I really believe that 95% of the members here don't want strictly technical issues, and nothing else. I believe that if you want people to stay, you have to have some humor in the posts, and it looks to me like where you (moderators, mainly administrators) are going with this doesn't have any. It seems like you are frowning upon posts that deal with humor, trying to get people to laugh type thing, that have no technical value. I think that is the reason I stayed here in the first place- the reason why, after browsing a few other forums, this one stuck.
