reving in neutral

Default reving in neutral

hi, i have a 98 civic ex coupe, is it alrite for me to rev in neutral to 4-5k rpm? would it hurt any anything is i rev higher?

not true, theres sometimes hidden damage

ive seen a few cars jumps belt older b18's are more commen but 2 months ago i had a guy come into tha shop witha 91 si civic he jumped and bent 3 valves on #4
also u can spin a bearing with no load on the crank
but i do rev to 7000 to warm tires up but then again blowing motors
aint nothin new to me

auto matic nuetral will only go to about 5200 rpm area stick of coarse will reach about 7000-7400

yeah man if you want to rev up in neutral well rev it up, but just make sure its productive reving. FYI hondas are high reving cars just don't over do it.

I would agree. From his question I took it to mean that he would only rev it up once in awhile.

Yeah I mean honestly theres nothing wrong with reving in neutral . But Like my man said theres hidden damage behind it "not in ever case" . But yeah I mean you can pretty much rev to 7000 and hold the gas for days and nothing will really happen . Just be carefull you never know .

I heard it wasn`t good. Something about how your engine will flex when you rev it. I don't know just what i heard.

if you have stock internals, it is not a good idea because they are ment for only so much, but if you strenghtin the piston rods and such, you could rev as much as you want. Reving past 4k(stock) is not good.

If you keep it well under red line, there is no problem. But why would you need to?

If you have an automatic and you rev and drop into gear, that is a :nono:

i was trying to warm up the car faster.

so i would be fine if i rev btw 3k-6k rpm once awhile, right?
