Help!!
When I drive my car (2000 EX) I hear weird noises coming from my engine bay, it sounds like crickets chirping, more with inclining revs. I dont know if it's a belt or something worse, while stopped and sticking my head in the engine bay, I hear nothing, even when revving. I hope it's just a belt. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
but I have been having problems with belts... ever since I've had a JR supercharer (gone now) I keep throwing alternator belts, even now, when I dont have the SC. I looked around in there today, and after removing all the belts and inspecting everything, I noticed the bolt that holds the alternator on was gone!! so I'll put one on and see what happens. but it rained today and it was definately a belt squeaking.
I don't have any experience with Hondas and this problem, but my mom's Plymouth Voyager has the same cricket noises you describe, and lots of issues with belt tensioning. The cause of this squeaking was misaligned pulley wheels. Basically, some of the accessories were pushed too far forward and their pulleys don't line up with the one on the engine, so the belts make cricket noises. Dunno if this helps...
