Default Checking CE light, SRS light flashes

My check engine light went on and when i jumped the plug on the ECU and went to check the code, the SRS light flashes, not the Check Engine light. What am I doing wrong or what can I do?

Is the SRS flashing codes? If it is then just use it.

Go here first to make sure you are jumpering it correctly if you are not sure:

Then go here to tell you what the codes mean:

If your SRS light flashes that usually means that you have an SRS error in the SRS system. The SRS system has its own brain like the motor has the ECU as the brain. Don't worry about the SRS light flashing if you're trying to check codes, just count the flashes on the CEL.

Well that's how I have it!! I think I am doin it right, because I have followed directions and pictures. Unfortunately, for some reason, the CEL does not blink, only the SRS ligh, but it is normal when i take the wire/peper clip out.

I was trying to figure out what the problem is. I was running out of gas when the CEL went on at first. Could this be because it piled up dirty gas/deposits that have been sitting at the bottom of the tank? If so, would an additive cleaner for the gasoline do help?

By the way, I have reset the ECU since...Just in case it was a one-time problem.

When I start the car, it sounds anemic and sputters, and sometimes stalls out(while it sits in my driveway.) If anyone could help me figure out the problem I appreciate it!

Thanks!

It's possible that your ECU is shot, when they go, sometimes the light won't work at all. When you turn your key to the on position, does it come on for about 5 seconds then go off? If not, I'm thinking you may have a bad ECU my friend.

Do you have a buddy that you can borrow a good ECU from??

What motor is this for? I have an ECU I'm not using, but I need to know what motor you have. If it'll work, you can borrow mine to do the test.

Lemme know.
