Why? Because of many reasons, one reason being one that cashis mentioned, to center the wheel to prevent off-center vibration. One important reason is the amount of stress that is on the wheel/wheel studs. The ring (which aligns to the hub itself) absorbs the weight of the car as well as any impact on the wheel.
Spacers aren't necessary and actually not recommended. They should only be used if your wheels are the incorrect offset and need to be pushed slightly out or if you have a need for more caliper clearance.

edit: didn't see your white text until now. :chuckles:

What I meant when I say civics don't need hubcentric rings is that most of the Rota wheels are hubcentric to civics and integras already
Since were on the subject of hubcentric rings, knowing that all cars need them, but do all cars have them? I'm curious because I just recently had the tires replaced on a 2001 Isuzu rodeo. But the ride on these tires are very poor. As if the wheel/tires were not balanced. But they were (judging by the different wheel weights that were put on the wheels). But the feel is still kinda jittery. It's even worst when driven uphill.
Is this a balancing problem, or a hubcentric ring concern? Tire size is still the same, the only difference is that it's a different brand tire (from Yokohama to Bridgestone).
Sorry to go off-topic here, but I'm really concerned about this. I haven't had the opportunity to take it back to the tire shop to get it rebalanced (if in fact that is the problem). But what if it isn't? What if I did get it rebalanced and the problem still persists?

It might be a balancing issue, it may be a bent rim issue, and it can be that the hub centric...

As far as putting tires on them, you'll probably get away with it, but there are a few things that would determine if you're going to experience problems. What is your suspension setup? How's your alignment? How low is your car?

well i ride pretty low... i know with rota 1565's and 195/50s had no problems... the front tucks the tire about 1/4-1/2 in, while the back the fender is right at the tire top. as far as my sus setup... i have skunk2 co's(integra rate) and agx's. so to repeat my question again after taking this info - should i go ahead and pay to have the tires put on and hope the tire/rim combo fits within the fenders? or don't waste my time, money and hope? hehe... i really like these wheels too... but if they wont fit then ima have to sell them... thanks again in advance.

This is probably not what you wanted to hear, but in the long run, if you decided to put tires on these wheels, install them in your car, and continue to use them at the current height that you have now, you'll more often than not have headaches and problems with it.
well they are old wheels. they are 2 piece bbs wheels. with the center being a 5 spoke design... yea i don't think i'll be able to buy another set like this with the proper offset... i'm pretty sure they are discontinued... they did come from a integra db so it should fit but i dont think it was as low as my car. thanks for the advice... maybe i will put the tires on and try, if they dont fit then i'll just sell them with the tires...
