Default Get a ticket for a "quiet" aftermarket exhaust?

How many of you with any of these "quiet" after market exhausts have gotten tickets specifically for having the aftermarket exhaust? What was the ticket written up for?

- apexi world sport
- greddy sp
- RS*R ultra mag (??)
- Stillen rear section
- etc

Also... what state were you in when you got pulled over?

Do you think you got pulled over for your exhaust or for the way the rest of your car looks?

Maybe in California. I've run my A'PEXi N1 exhaust all the time for 4 years and no problems

I had my loud ass dunk for a while and never got pulled over. It was LOUD!

I run an N1 now, but the turbo really quiets it down.

The RS*R is very quiet - FYI.

Never had any problems when I had my Magnaflow muffler. It just depends on the cops mood.

:werd: it just depends on the cops mood. If they want they give you a ticket for a modified exhaust they will. It really doesnt matter how loud it is

I have the ex-mag on one car, but I have a 3in turbo back, with 20in resonator and straight-through dynomax muffler, it's not quiet.

I've had several friends ticketed under CT's new law, so I did the research in order to be prepared.

http://www.cga.state.ct.us/2003/tob/...145-R03-HB.htm

The law is full of holes, the previous law had set db limits, this one uses the term "reasonable person's judgment" at another point they say the muffler system must have baffles or "other equivalent means" of supressing the noise. If ticketed and after receiving the officers training records (via suphoena) had the officer not had implicit training in recognizing baffled/other equivalent methods, the case would have grounds for being thrown out.

My advice, check your states laws (and town ordinances if you're aware of any) and educate yourself on the do's and don'ts before you get ticketed.
