yeah a 97 with a d16z6 my y8 blew so i went the turbo way i fully built the z6 my dad owns a fab shop he welds and fabs drag cars so i got pistons sleved block and connecting rods. bored and stroked to a 1.8 liter spoon intake and greedy evo exhaust it moves but the vtec quit . i was in the process of purchasing a turbo i think she is ready for about 12 psi then i'll turn the boost up later.. but does any body have an idea, only when the mph gauge dont work the vtec dont work wierd!

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say ECU. I could be wrong but a good place to start.

sounds like your speed sensor is the problem. if your computer isnt reading you going at least 25mph vtec wont engage.

absolutely NO disrespect... but it always boggles my mind when people come here asking questions, about the motor that there (insert friends, dad, uncle.. etc..) built at his super delux ultra fabulous race car making shop... maybe he could look at it for you??

i agree fully... its at least the speed sensor.. thats probably whats causeing the speedometer to not read and as stated vtec to not engage.. but would that make it run rich??? not too sure about that...

side note... it also amazes me that people continue to drive there cars when they are in this state..
