Default Blown shock mabye?

I think I might have a blown shock on my rear driver's side. I took measurments from the GROUND to the top of the FENDER WELL.

Here they are:

Front -
Driver = (23")
Passenger = (23")

Rear -
Driver = (22 1/4")
Passenger = (24")

Mabye I did something wrong when installing the shocks? I have no idea what's wrong.

O yea, and no, I'm not on a hill

**EDIT** I am running KYB AGXs w/ Eibach Sportlines

Is it possible that you just have your shocks adjusted goofy? Those are adjustable shocks right?

Otherwise, its my understanding that you can go and push down on that corner of the car and see how the car bounces to see if it's blown or not.

Someone else elaborate on this..........

It's hard to tell just by looking or even measuring if a shock is blown, since the spring is largely responsible for the ride height.

do the push down test. push down on the each corner and count how many "bounces" it takes before it stops. If that one corner takes more than the others then, it could be worn out or worn out more than the others.

geneally more than 1 cycle = worn shock

1 cycle equals the shock going down then up.

its difficult to get precise measurements of ride hight. Even though your on flat ground, unless its really flat, like the smooth floor of a garage or shop, its hard to get accurate measurements.

I'd go by the feel of the car more than the hight. If your shock is blown, you'll feel the car bouncing more, and you'll notice that wheel hopping over potholes, bumps, rr tracks, rather than smoothly moving up then down.

1 1/2" either way is alot to be off by. try checking the spring if it is sitting right. make sure you cut the bumpstop in half cause usually eibach requires you to cut the bumpstops in half. maybe one side has a bumpstop and the other doesnt.

that wouldn't effect the ride hight tho. :thinking:

The bumpstop sits on the bottom of the rod that sticks out of the top of the shock (sry dont know actual term)...it never touches to the car unless the car sinks down enough...which is why it's there...so that wont effect the ride height.....

I checked the spring to make sure it's sitting right...it is...

NeverBX is right, 1 3/4" actually is too much difference on a flat surface...

someone help

bumpstops do affect ride height. if the rod is sitting lower than the stock height by a good amount, the bumpstop prevents the shock from traveling all the way down. when you install h&r and eibachs you have to cut the bumpstops in half. even the directions say. my eibachs sat with about a 2 1/2 finger gap before i cut the bumpstops. then when i cut them they went down to just above the tire to its proper 1.8" drop instead of a 1.3" drop.
