Default Basics of Hybrid

I would ask this in the Hybrid forum, but seeing as theres hardly any one there I thought I'd ask here.

What's Hybrid? and what are some of the basic concepts of having a Hybrid?

hybrid is when you use an engine that is from another car. using a b16a in a EG wouldnt nessecarily be considered a hybrid since it comes stock in japan. get my drift?

I agree. Having a motor in a car that wasn't there from the factory = Hybrid

imo

Hey, there are too people in the hybrid forum. It may not be a big as this forum, but we're still chugging along.

Hybrid basically means the fusion of two different cars into one. In the context of Honda's and the forum on this site, it means swapping engines. Most common hybrids involve putting a DOHC B-series engine from an Integra or JDM car into a Civic replacing the stock D-series, or swapping the H-series engines from Preludes into either Civic's or Accords.

How complicated everything gets depends on what exactly you want to do. Some swaps are basic bolt in affairs, others take custom mount kits and fabrication to make them work. Regardless, it usually boils down to taking the very best offerings from an OEM and putting them together. Get the lightweight, inexpensive platform of a Civic, use the more powerful Integra engines to get the best starting point for a build up.

Hybrid is a gasoline/electric....

Well not in this context, to Honda hybrid is their IMA system. To the people in this particular forum however the idea of a hybrid is to alter the civic with parts from another vehicle. Generally around here that means motor swaps.
