Hybrid basically means the fusion of two different cars into one. In the context of Honda's and the forum on this site, it means swapping engines. Most common hybrids involve putting a DOHC B-series engine from an Integra or JDM car into a Civic replacing the stock D-series, or swapping the H-series engines from Preludes into either Civic's or Accords.

Regardless, it usually boils down to taking the very best offerings from an OEM and putting them together. Get the lightweight, inexpensive platform of a Civic, use the more powerful Integra engines to get the best starting point for a build up.
