A rattle/grinding noise after acceleration

Hi

My girlfriend's '99 EX is making a metal on metal grinding noise after heavy accelleration. Could this be the catalytic converter cover rattling? My uncle had this problem on his '98.

does it happen within a certain RPM range? like does it happen in different gears?

Happened with one of my girl friends teg's. It was the heat shield on the cat. Get under the car and have someone rev it up for you.
