Default People without boost...

Been wondering about this for a while:

If you have a 4-2-1 header is it best to get a cold air or short-ram intake??

Also if it where backwards (4-1; ________ intake)

regardless of what type of header you have, a CAI is always going to be better than a short-ram. Short rams suck in the hot air from the engine compartment, whereas the CAI takes in air from the front of the car which is generally cooler. The only issue that you need to consider is whether or not you want to take the risk of getting water into your engine and hydrolocking if you get a CAI.

In all honesty though, on a Honda the difference in performance between the two is going to be practically negligible. If you're lucky (really lucky), a CAI might give you 1-2 hp more than a short ram.

:werd: ,...im not gonna risk getting hydrolocked for 1-2 HP,...i have shortrams on both my hatchbacks,..and it doesnt matter what kinda intake you run with whatever type of header you get,..the type of header you get will be based upon if you want more power in the low to mid range,..or if you want power on the top end

[thread jack]so what's a decent header to go with? and what type? i'd probably more interested in low-end because my top end is decent.[/thread jack]

i'm going with a cai only because i already have it and it is c.a.r.b. legal and i also don't really have to worry about hydrolocking too much.

there is more of a difference between cai and short ram. the length of the intake tube affects the whole power curve. cai might not necesarily give you more hp than a short ram. the cai gives more mid-range torque, which is what you feel if you are a daily driver. but the short ram intake gives you more power in the high rpms-i.e. racing. so if you race, it might be a better idea for you to get the short ram. but look this shit up, because there are many common mistakes. i think the best set up is to have an ice box attached to a short ram intake, bc you get the cold air and the power.

you have that backwards. sri = low end, mid range. cai = top end
