Maybe, but eBaying a car is a pain in the neck. Ex: Buyer backs out, you still eat the fee's.
Nah, if the buyer backs out you just have to file a non-paying bidder report on them. They refund your money. I've had to do that when the "winner" of a B17A shortblock I was selling didn't respond after the auction ended.

On that note, I've ebay'd two cars so far and made fair value off of both (1992 Integra GS, totalled by front end damage, $910, and a 1980 RX-7, rusty exterior, great interior, $450ish, same as I paid for it)

Ya, but we are talking like 8k here... not 500. The listing fee and commission they get must be nuts!!!

The listing fee is the same, and the closing percentage is way lower for $8k then for $500. It's not very much more overall, or else noone would sell their cars on ebay.

EDIT: OK, they changed the fees since I sold my car. Here's the deal:
Pay a Flat Insertion Fee when you list your vehicle and then a Transaction Services Fee at the time of the first bid on your listing (or if you set a reserve price, at the time of the first bid over that reserve). eBay Motors does not charge a Final Value Fee at the close of Vehicle listings.

Passenger Vehicles

Insertion Fee
Transaction Services Fee (TSF) $40.00
$40.00 (...)
So, in short, it'll cost $80 to sell any car on Ebay.

It is, but it is not enforced over most of the country. California is the only state I know of that is anal enough to check.

I used the run 'til sold service. It needs to be updated about once a month to keep running.

Because there was no emissions rules back then, so they have no standards to judge them by.

Besides, how often do you see pre-70 cars acually on the road?
