Nah, if the buyer backs out you just have to file a non-paying bidder report on them. They refund your money. I've had to do that when the "winner" of a B17A shortblock I was selling didn't respond after the auction ended.
On that note, I've ebay'd two cars so far and made fair value off of both (1992 Integra GS, totalled by front end damage, $910, and a 1980 RX-7, rusty exterior, great interior, $450ish, same as I paid for it)
