Default Newbe

Hi guys,

I’m a newbe, just got a Sol yesterday.

Was looking for a Vtec or an Si, manual of course, with low mileage and well taken care of, all for a good price…..
Of course hard to find, so I settled for a 95 S, white, with 75k in exceptional condition.
Paid BB which is 5000$, not too good and not too bad, I assume that I can sell in two-three years with 100k for about 4000$…..? And get a Vtec.....

Anyway, in spite of the meager 102 hp it moves nicely.

I’m really not into external enhancements (maybe just a little spoiler) but I would like to give in a little extra power, how would I start to do this with out breaking the bank?

Thanks and nice to make your acquaintance

Chaka

that's actually pretty damn expensive for my area. Why sell it? Make it your own car. If you want a VTEC motor, do a swap and customize it yourself. That way you can have something you're proud of that you made yourself. Just my .02

anyway, with that said, Welcome to the board. :wavey:

Hey,

Actually its around right for my area (I think), again 5200$ is private party BB price, and the Edmunds for it in my area (Baltimore) is 6200$!!
I’m not even getting into what dealers here want for a low mileage Sol….
How much would it go for down in Florida?

Anyway it doesn’t matter, now its mine, and I like it.

So where do I start to get some more power without swapping the engine? Air intake?

Thanks

I see sol vtec's going for between 5 and 6 k in FL. I was just in Baltimore the other day. Your interstate systems fawking suck - especially I-95 going to that memorial tunnel thingy! HOLY SHIT!! But .... VTEC sounds good goin thru that thing :naughty:

you can get intakes and stuff like that .... but when you do a swap, if that's what you want, you'll only have to buy the stuff over again. You wont if you get a cheap ram air intake and remove your resonator, but I dont see a point with that. You wont notice gains, especially with a d15 motor. Drive it for a while until you fix all the little things that are wrong with it. I know there will be some, the car is a 94. I speak from experience. You'll find little things that piss you off that you'll want to fix. Use that time to save up for your motor or do your suspension. You might as well do a swap if you want more power because that 1.5 ltr non vtec engine wont get what you want.

You're in the Baltimore area? Prices are higher there, I guess, than here in Montgomery County. I got my Si with 72K on it for ~$4000. I found an S model about two weeks earlier with 55K, a '96, for $3700, over in Frederick. However, the interior had cigarette burns EVERYWHERE.

Still, nice find. Hopefully us Maryland Solers will see you around!

Damn,

Where did you find those?
I’ve been looking for a while in a 50mile radius. Not a Sol with under 100k for less than 4,500$ around.
Just take a look in autotrader.com or cars.com…

Once there was a 94 Si with 88k for 3,500$ in the DC area, I called the same day and it was already sold….I bet the guy got the call two minutes after the paper was out… I even offered more but he didn’t even get back to me.

I wonder why the prices here are so high?

If I told someone I'd sell it to them ... and I got a call 2 hours later with someone offering more money, I wouldn't screw the first person out of the car. It's unethical. You cant blame the dude.

Hey,

I wasn’t blaming him, I just made an offer, I guess the other guy matched it.
I didn’t ask him to break a deal…

Actually some other b**ch shook hands with me on a 96 sol for 4000$ and then sold it to someone else for more. Pissed me off.

I agree it’s unethical…

you got lucky, sols are so expensive around here. 5 grand for mine. 148k and about a grand worth of rust to fix. anywho

you could always to a mini me swap. pretty inexpensive, or boost. but if things go right in the next month or two, i might have my dc sports header for sale, id sell that to you.
