I don't know if this ports over to Sols, but my best friend's dad is addicted to buying $300-$500 minivans (TranSports, Luminas, Caravans, etc.) and fixing them up and selling them for like $2000 more each. His Lumina alternator died like a million times, so he replaced it with a heavy duty Pontiac one, and then like half of the car's problems went away.

So....does Honda make any heavy duty alternators? They can probably be adapted to fit.

I've seen oversized alternators for sale before. I saw a few on ebay that'll put out at least 100watts.

The rattle when your fan is on is just that something fell down inside the motor, most likely a leaf. You ahve to remove the whole blower motor, and it's a pain unless the dash is out...

Unfortunately, we can't just bolt up a Chevy single-wire alternator that will pump out 200+ amps for $100... damn Honda and their 4-wire alternators. A high amp for 1.6L apps runs about $200 for a 130amp and closer to $250 for 150 or 175amp.

You can also have the stock 60/70 amp alternators rewound for $80-100, if you can find a place local to you-- whcih I have yet to find near me.

Theres fixes on teamdelsol.com for the roof rattling. Perhaps it's a good thing that that bumper is cracking. You can go back to stock
