It seems that it is a normal problem with our trannies.

The 3rd gear grind is pretty normal too. Mine grinds in 3rd every once in a while if I shift real hard. How bad is your 3rd gear grind?

blind leading the blind....

Ok, if it's grinding, it has nothing to do with the clutch. It is your tranny. Either that your shift forks are worn and need replacing, or your synchros are shot.

If you're revving it up to 5K and dumping the clutch, I hope you have fun finding a new tranny, cause your diff is gonna pop like a fat kid in a candy store. It will blow, and it WILL leave you stranded. Also, if you're revving it up that high on a stock clutch and not getting any tire spin, your disc is shot. The whole thing is probably so glazed over that it's amazing that it holds at all.

Grinding into reverse is completely normal. It's the only gear on a honda tranny that is straight cut. That's one reason it whines when you back up quickly. Ever wonder why the cars in Gran Turismo whine and keep going higher and higher? A lot of race cars have straight cut gears. The other reason your tranny grinds going into reverse is there is no synchro for reverse. Shift it into 5th gear before going into reverse because they share a shift fork, and it helps align all the other shit in there so it has less of a chance of grinding.

I'm done venting.

Yes, the reverse grind is normal  Its not just a Honda problem either. I've driven several manual tranny cars that also do this. Great post Bakeoff:thumbup:

I've heard from multiple sources that a bad clutch/PP can cause grinding for various reasons.:dunno:

Whoa, that's a bad combo. You may want to look into an Si/EX transaxle for that thing, it'll behave so much nicer.

If the clutch isn't releasing all the way, of course it will grind. But normally you won't have normal pedal movement, and you would have grinding in every gear all the time.

And I see nothing wrong with the cx si hybrid. I'm thinking of using a cx 1st and 2nd in my Si tranny. Boost+short gears=no traction!
Just lengthening the first couple gears would make a world of difference.
