ECU Install Please Help
A friend of mine gave me a JDM ecu for a differnt engine type (B16A ?) It is also OBD2. He said it would improve the performance of my engine. He implied it was different from a stock ECU, not 100% sure of the specifics.
Thanks
Thanks
Dude, check this out. My buddy gave me an ECU off of a Skyline and said it would help me out!!
Why would you just throw some unknown ECU in your car? Cause it's JDM and JDM is cool?
You need to find out exactly what it is, what car it came from, if it's going to be compatible at all.

Would you need the whole number off of the ecu to know?

A B16A is a DOHC motor. The D16Y8 is SOHC...
You need to learn more before you just go swapping your engine's brain out.
The middle number will be the number we'd need to tell you what the ECU is like: P72, P30, P28, P13... those are ECU codes
