Default Trust in a SWAP?

how much faith can i put into a swap? as you all know, im in search of a car, and i dont have a huge amount to spend, i found a couple of cars, one in particular has 206K on it, and i dont think itll last too long, so i was thinking of swappin something into , but im not sure how dependable swaps are. if you could please let me know what you guys think of swaps, and give me all your good and bad experiences with them. Im not trying to get SUPER fast in my civic, but a decent amount of speed is always good for me. and what engine do you suggest for good mileage, and decent amount of speed with out too much work, basuically a good commuter engine that will last me long time. Thanks

My hatch has been swaped for about a 8 months and has never given me any trouble at all. I would take my car anywhere without any worry of anything happening

Well, how well would you trust having a '97 GSR to drive around?

It's the same exact thing except in a different body.

You could get a brand new D16Z6 for a lesser price than a B series swap. Not as much power but you'll get at least 200k out of it. They are also very capable fo making a decent amount of HP too. I paid $390.00 for a brand new short block for the D16Z6 in my VX and $150.00 to have the head off of my old D16Z6 rebuilt. Definately cheaper than buying a used car that could break anytime. A B series swap from a reputable place is also a way to go but you never really know what you are going to get. The first B16A I bought for my CRX supposedly only had 30k on it but blew an oil pump after 20k with nothing done to it mod wise. But I alos know guys who have been swapped for years with no major problems. You have many options.

Where did you get your D16Z6 from? How much would a complete swap be for it?

swaps are very trustworthy as long as the engine hasn't been beaten or damaged.

i had my LS motor in my car for about 2.5-3 years and ran strong without any problems..except for a bent rod, which was my fault...

i now have a GSR motor and still feels very dependable. i've been driving it long distances and it hasn't given me any problems. (knocks on wood)

another reason i feel swaps are very dependable is because you get a chance to change out your engine mounts and do whatever needed maintenance to the frame with your stock engine out. this gives me a sure proof feeling that everything in my car is up to date and new.
