Those things suck... I always thought they were a good idea until my buddy got one and I tried it... it barely worked on a good nut much less a stripped or round oneh:

That special tool looks like it goes around a regular lug nut that requires a grip on the outside of the lugnut...
Mine was like that. I have 4 regular lugs and one special lug that requires a key. The special lug is round on the outside and has a special groove on the inside for the key to fit. I stripped the key to hell so I used the method I mentioned above.

Make sure you use a Craftsman socket or something else with a life time warranty because I split mine in half.
