Default E series engine?

ok my friend is a HUGE rice boy. He claims he has 180 hp out of his 98 civic ex with just an exhaust and intake. Thats another story. But now he is claiming that he does not have a d series engine but an e series. He says it is some kind of economy engine. Is this right or is he just makin more stuff up.

I was callin him "d series" cause he is made that my LS integra makes the same hp and is faster then his ex and i dont even have vtec. thats when he said its an E series engine i was like :eh: and he was like yea my friend with the blue si said that it is an E series. i said OHHH since his friend has a BLUE si it has to be right.

Just have him prove it to you by showing you the actual code on the engine. Then he will feel stupid when he realizes that he is wrong, then you can be like :fawk:

That's the first thing I thought of as well, but was there a VTEC-E for US model Civic's in 98?

Regardless, your friend doesn't know what he is talking about.

Besides that fact, in 1998, there was no (US) Civic motor that even put out 180hp - VTEC or NON. The closest thing was the EX with 127hp (or so). And the Civic Si didn't come out until 1999, and even then, it had 160hp.

Well even his BS story doesn't make sense. Why would an economy engine be stronger/ have more HP than the regular version? Ask him that then kick him in the balls and laugh at him when he curls up like a cheese doodle.
