Default Do You Need Radio Code?

fRIEND HAS A '99 cIVIC. His check engine light came on and we replaced the gas cap that was missing. The light is still on. Some members helped us and said we needed to reset ECU by diconnectiong the battery. Is there a way to do this without needing the radio code? He bought the car used and does not have all the info he should have gotten (like the radio code)

Thanks

Call a dealership and give them the VIN ... they should hook you up with the radio code.

Sometimes, there maybe a sticker in your trunk with the code on it...that's what the dealership told me, and that's where I found mine

the radio is supposed to come on a card when u buy your car. some dealers peel off the # off the card, and stick it somewhere discreet, so u dont loose the #

you can always reset the ecu by pulling the ecu and backup fuse. They're iin the engine bay fuse box. It won't cut power to anything but the ecu.

when working on my car, i disconnected the battery not knowing it was gonna ask for a code on the radio, so i had to call honda and have them look it up. What might work, is if you have someone hold the metal part of a screw driver to the metal part of the battery you are disconnecting. This keeps all your settings the way they were, as long as the screw driver doesn't move off the battery.
