Default Y8 head on a D16Z6

I've heard of it done, but no real info on any performance gains. I have the opportunity to buy a couple for pretty cheap. Anybody know anything about this?

Yeah, I know about the mini-me. I was wondering if this would make any sense.

Maybe I understood you wrong, but the mini-me is a d series vtec head on a non-vtec d series engine. You have a vtec motor already, so swapping a y8 head instead of a z6 doesn't make a whole lot of sense. The y8 motor only puts out 2 more hp over the z6, so it doesn't seem that much difference even if you did do this. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong though, I'm still a newbie

It's something about the combustion chambers. Something like the z6's are round and the Y8's are more squareish so it has a better quinsh(sp?) area for the combustion. I've heard of it, but I want soome real info.

Hmmm....... Not sure about the combustion chamber shape. Sorry I couldn't give you any real info but I have the same motor as you so if someone else posts (hint, hint) I would like to see what they have to say.

I'm just curious. I'm about to put a turbo on my car anyway. But more is always better.

if i were you, id use the y8 tranny and IM/TB. The Y8 tranny has stronger teeth or something in it(forgot what i read) and the intake manifold is like the Type R's for the D series(read that somewhere too) Also, throw some ZC pistons in there to help lower your compression when you turbo it.

I think its the shifter fork thats stronger, steel instead of something. And I have about 2k worth of extra shit I wanna do, not including turbo.
