Default need LS swap advice...

For a '92 civic hatch, will a '93 Integra GS engine and tranny bolt right in?

It's a B18B1, and I see that the 94-97 LS (B18B1) bolts right in to the stock mounts. I just got a whole '93 integra that runs, and I'd love to have an LS motor in my hatch. I've read hybridgarage and hybrid2.honda-perf.org. None of the info I can find indicates that this drivetrain will work, but it's still a B18B1.

Does anyone know otherwise?

No it's not a drop in. The 93 Integra GS still uses a cable driven transmission. The motor should mount up just fine though. You can find use any hydraulic B-Series Transmission though, or another option is to get the Hasport cable conversion/mount kit for the transmission. Hope that helps.

No, it's not. All 90-93 Integras use the B18A1 except for the GS-R, which had a B17A1. If you don't believe me, pop your hood and look.

If it does say B18B1, it is a replacement. Looking at the casting date would show that the block is newer then the car.

Actually, 90-91 are non-obd B18A1, 92-93 are obd-1 B18B, 92-93 GS-R is OBD-1 B17A. All models have cable trans from 90-93. :booty:

I think you should just sell it to me and save yourself some trouble.

Ya, but you should be able to pick that motor up pretty cheap and then just buy a hydro tranny after the fact.

It's a good motor and great for boost. :naughty:

Thanks for the info. I got the whole car for $500. It looks like I'll be sitting on this engine and tranny for a while. This tranny has no grinds, and I really want to use it. My hatch has solid linkage, not hydraulic, so a conversion would have to take place for either cable or hydraulically actuated setups. I need to finish my GSX* before I start tearing my hatch apart, though.

*block is disassembled, 1g head won on ebay for $150 , Galant 2.4L crank ordered, forged pistons, crower rods, new clutch, bearings, seals, I already rebuilt the turbo and I'm thinking about polishing it... etc... My intercooler gets here tomorrow. WC, I can't let you be running .3 seconds faster than me in the 1/4 mile with a FWD Honda . J/K... good luck man.

Nice try, but you are WRONG. Have you owned a 92-93 Integra? Obviously not. I have. My '92 GS had a block clearly stamped B18A1, just like all the other non-GS-R 90-93's.

If you want to get hyper-technical, there is no such thing as a B17A. The US market GS-R engine was coded B17A1. I have owned one of those (the engine) too.

Learn your shit before you try to discredit other people.
