Default WTF new turbo isn't spooling?!?!

I spent from 10 am in the morning till just now 3 am the following night putting my turbo on.

When we got it started finally and went to drive it i'm punching it and not getting ANY boost at all. All the charge pipes are connected, there's no massive exhuast leaks before the turbo.

The only thing i can think of is the wastegate is dumping air out at idle. From what i understand the wastegate should always stay shut until you pass your spring PSI (mine is 6) so at idle it shouldn't be leaking air. My guess is that the wastegate is stuck open so i'm not getting any boost. Is there an adjustment for it or anything? It's a brand new tial 38 mm, the bottom flange has a vaccum hose running to the turbo and the top flange has a vaccum line tapped into my manual boost controller.

Do i have the wastegate installed wrong or something?

those small 4 cyl motors don't put out enough power to spin a turbo. Thats the problem.

stfu n00b. If you wanna troll, feel free and post as much as possible because you'll be bannd very quickly.

Post a pic of your wastegate. I have the TiAL 35mm so they should be the same.

There should be 2 vacuum lines, one on the side and one on the top. The one on the side is what you hook your engine vacuum line to. If you have a BC, you T that line off BEFORE the BC valve and run one to the side and the other to the valve and then into the top of the WG.

Make sense?

Here's mine before I isntalled the BC:

Usually if the wastegate is stuck open, you'll definitely hear it, esp if it's dumping straight into the atmosphere. Did you try manually spinning the turbine to make sure nothing was stuck in it?

I agree. I wasn't sure if you had it dumping to open atmos. If you do, you will know it's open cause it'll sound like you have an exhaust leak (cause you do).

An odd possiblity is that your cat is clogged (if you have one). I know sleeper had his turbo on for a while and it stopped spooling. He took his cat out and ran open downpipe to check it and it spooled again.

It doesn't sound possible since your old turbo was spooling fine, but it could be? Just thowing it out there.
