Okay, so I need to have my old D16Z6 head rebuilt for duty on the brand new D16Z6 block. Can anyone give me the simple steps for removing the head and can you tell me what needs to be removed for a rebuild or do I just give the shop everything. From my manual I see that the cam and valve assembly needs to come off. Do I then take those parts to th shop too? Thanks, I don't like the directions I have in the Haynes.
Head removal:
remove crank pulley (belts need to be removed first)
remove valve cover
remove timing belt covers
mark the timing belt and cams/crank sprocket if you're going to reuse the belt
loosen timing belt tensioner
remove timing belt
drain coolant
remove exhaust manifold
remove intake manifold
remove head studs
take off all coolant hoses that go to head
unplug all sensors that go to head
That should be it
I'd leave the whole head together when you take it down there. The shop I took it to wanted it all in one piece so they knew what goes where.

What I'll be doing today...
1. Remove fuel rail
2. Disconnect throttle body
3. Smash valve cover and timing cover with a hammer
4. Cut timing belt, coolant/vacuum hoses, and wires with Tin Snips
5. Pull the head bolts
6. Remove head
7. Check out
Something tells me you'll want to be more careful with your own car.
