Ls v-tec ?
Hi im new to this forum i just wanted to get some of your oppions about this motor swap i wanted to do.I got this mechanic that builds them really well not like the usually ones that break after 2-3 months. The last motor has been running in his civic for a little over a year now but it was in a crx.Im wondering if any one has this done or knows any one that has had any major probs with it in a 96-00 civic.
 You wish...
LS-VTEC is not that hard to do. It's really not a question as to how long the motor will last in your car, it will last as long as it would in a teg as long as it was built correctly.
It really comes down to the reputation of the shop/builder as to how long it will last. Also has to do with how you treat it.

the most important thing when doing a LSvtec setup is to find a very good machine shop to tap your holes,..LSvtec and b20vtecs are notorious for leaking oil,..why? because the machine shop didnt tap the holes right,..any motor can be reliable as a stock motor as long as its built right,..i did not have any problems with my motor,..i had the machine shop tap the holes and i did the head install myself,...about a year in the car with nitrous and the motor held up strong and did me proud
