Curently I have gold line springs with about a 1.5 inch drop. They are sittin on my stock shocks. They were on my si when i bought it. I personally would have went with eibachs but the previous owner went with crap springs for some reason. Anyways, my car rides like crap. Every bump I hit when i'm cruising on the highway or even on back roads when i'm driving a little fast feels like my car is gonna fall apart. I'm guessing it is because my car is dropped on the stock shocks. If I just throw a set of kyb agx's on my car do you think the handling will improve and I'll have a softer ride? I can't afford the springs as well right now cuz money is kinda tight. But will just the kyb's do me some justice? Any help you guys can give me I'd really apppreciate. thanks

 

AGXs allow for dampner adjustment. You can adjust how stiff/soft your struts are by the turn of a knob on each strut.

They're a good bang-for-the-buck strut and I've heard good things about them. They are not as nice as a Koni or Tokico strut, but they'll work well to replace stock struts.

Do you mean it's just harsh? Unfortunately, if that's the case, I'm of the opinion that changing your shocks will do nothing for you. In such a case, you're either actually lower than 1.5" and riding the bumpstops, or your springs have rates that are incredibly stiff (in which case your ride would also be bouncy and maybe shocks will help...). I suppose that it could somehow be possible that your stock shocks have just seized or become very stiff on the compression stroke, but I doubt it.

Do you mean that it's bouncy? If that's the case, yes, upgrading your shocks will help control the bounciness as long as your spring rate is within the shock's rebound damping capabilities.

 

It's not really that bouncy at all. When i hit a bump though i hear a loud thump usually. It also feels like i'm gonna lose control of the car sometimes if i'm going fast enough and hit a bump or if i'm on rough roads. I just figured that it was my shocks because i've always heard that when you put lowering springs on your car you should upgrade to a higher performance shock as well. i guess i'll just try new shocks and if it dosent solve my problem i'm gonna have to invest in better springs.

 

I like my ride a LITTLE bouncy, so that way my wifes boobies go up and down.... I love to drive.
