Ah, thanks for putting my mind at ease about the springs and wheels. As for the tire thing:

My dad looked at tirerack.com's little survey boxes and when he saw all those red boxes under snow for tires like kumho 712, yokohama, etc.. he was like "hell no." And those are the only kinds of tires that places like whalentire and wheelmax carry. Tirerack has many many more tires to choose from (snow traction wise) so thats why im going with tirerack. I live in Raleigh, NC and we always get some kind of snow that i end up driving in.....so the continentals seem to be the best choice for the price- light snow traction and very good dry and wet performance.
