I saw a topic on oil changes and decided to pop in because I came across a neat tid-bit for anyone looking to increase their oil filter capacity. I have a 92 Accord EX with the factory F22A6 (2.2 SOHC non-VTEC) and I think the factory oil filter is too small. So, a quick bit of research showed me that the oil filter for a similar year Acura Legend has the same thread, seal size, and case diameter as my stock filter, but has more than 150% the capacity of the Accord filter. The cost was the same to me at the parts store ($5.99,) and it fit great, still with more than ample room to fit my band-type fliter wrench around it. As a side note, I use Purolator Pure-One oil filters with Mobil 1 5w30 Synthetic (though I was a diehard Castrol Syntec 5w50 user with my domestic V8 cars, but I do think the Mobil 1 is better.) I do primarily highway driving (at least 40 miles at a time) and change my oil about every 5000 miles. Two oil changes ago, I decided to try Slick 50 for my engine and automatic transmission, and have been very happy so far. The engine revs easily (and more spirited than before) and the transmission is doing much better (my trans fluid gets changed every 25,000 miles,) with quicker shifts and less "gear hunting." Good stuff, seems like it will be a while before I have a good JDM H22/auto with LSD excuse.
