That's what my dad says about modifying my AV6, but I disgree. I think the louder sound in vtec is worth it.
Actually, I think you'll find the majority of engineers (myself included) can find numerous ways to improve what they are working on or make it more reliable. What you have to consider about honda is the purpose for which their part is made. Engineers do things by design and specifications. If they are told to build an airbox thats very quiet, will allow a certain amount of airflow, and is redundant despite the filter getting clogged with water, all while keeping it cheap for manufacturing, 9 out of 10 engineers will build you something like a stock honda airbox.

Now if you change the requirements and say, we dont care about price or hydrolock, we just wanna go fast, you get the engineers at AEM or similar performance companies. Engineers do the job to specification, and most of them like what they build to work better than it was planned to.

As for you guys who say a pipe is a pipe, ill tell you what i told that fool a couple of months ago. You guys think the V2 is just a pipe right? Go read up on something called the helmholtz resonator and then take two or three years of calculus and physics like I have. If you can still tell me its not possible for one pipe to be better than the other, ill respect what you have to say, but I know there are people on this board who talk out of their ass because prices are inflated and not because they know anything about physics. Believe it or not, some of the guys who design this shit can do it because they;ve learned everything there is to know about it. If its not true, why do we not all have PVC intakes scratchbuilt from home depot. :fawk:
