too bad it doesn't exist. generics are usually nearly as good as the name brands in performance. quality-wise is questionable due to workmanship.

the intakes that "dont pass smog" are b/c the mfg didnt spend the time and $$ to get it proper cerified by CARB, so theyre not CARB exempt. i dont think any other state bsides CA has laws against modifying your intake.
in some old-ass issue of SCC, they tested the AEM CAI with a generic filter on the end, instead of the real aem filter. they lost ~5hp with the generic filter inplace of the AEM filter. the AEM CAI filter has a special velocity stack to add more power compared to a generic filter
