First, South Korea and North Korea are split because of the fact that the North wanted to be communist and the south didn't want to. It had nothing to do with WWII. We were in our cold war and wanted to stop the spread of communism. China and the Soviet Union backed North Korea and we backed South Korea.

Second, South and North Korea DO NOT hate each other. They have been in a cease fire since the end of the Korean War. They are NOT at war right now. They are trying to work out their differences and reunify the nation.

Third, the answer is NOT to give South Korea nukes. This would only alienate us further with other asian nations. China does not want North Korea to have nukes and have been silent about it and secretly WANT us to take care of the problem, as does Japan.

North Korea is building the nukes now because Bush said they are one of the Axis of Evil and they will defend themselves. We don't want them to have nukes because they sell weapons and stuff to rogue nations and other questionable nations. I say, take them out.

As for China, we are not going to war with China. Probably never. We have an army of like 4 million. They have an army of like 10 million, and their reserves come out to like 200 million. Our entire population is around 380-390 million. WE CAN'T GO TO WAR WITH CHINA!! In college I read reports from the UN and one of the growing concerns was China. China is destroying Tibet, claimed they will reclaim islands off the coast of Japan that were taken and not given back after WWII, will take Taiwan, will solve their border dispute with Vietnam by taking all of Vietnam, may move into Mongolia and Kashmir region of India. China will be a force to reckon with one day. But no one knows who will do it.
