Default Re: Quick Question about a 95 Civic EX

Hello all,

I am looking at buying a used 95 Civic EX with a little over 84k miles on it. When I went and looked at the car, the guy said he just replaced the front axle and that it was a "common" repair on the civics. My first questions is if this is true?! He said that it was making a noise and that is the reason why he got it replaced, I asked him if it had ever been in an accident and he said no. The guy has the car listed for $4500, and was wondering if that is a fair price for the car. He has not had the timing belt replaced, so I thought that would be an expense, as well as it needs two new tires....there is also a scratch on the rear bumper that was touched up. I was thinking of asking $3900-4100 for the car, what do you all think?

Thanks!

Axle replacement is no big deal, it happens.

The mileage is really good for a '95. You will need to get the timing belt changed though - it's recommended at 90K miles. If you have a shop do it it's something like $250 (I think, I do all my own work so I don't know for sure)

I'd say offer him $4K and tell him that you will have to shell out money for the timing belt and all that crap.
