Hydrolock is a bigger problem than most people think.

A short ram intake is a waste for most folks going the bolt-on route. AEM makes a great CAI (w/bypass), Injen makes an even better CAI, and Mugen makes the best CAI. Stick Comptech's icebox somewhere in between Injen and AEM, and you pretty much have your entire lineup of quality CAIs. You'll have to decide for yourself what price range you're able to work with and whatnot.

The biggest selling point for Comptech is that it's very difficult (or impossible according to them) to hydrolock your engine with the icebox (filter remains in stock location + drain hole in airbox). The icebox extension + foam filter costs just the same amount as the AEM.

The only Comptech owner I know of who hydrolocked his engine (ITR) received a brand new engine courtesy of Comptech.

However, you can probably find AEM CAIs for a bit cheaper than any of the above offerings if you look hard enough, and they make just as much power for the most part (if not .5-1 whp less).

Note that power results will be best felt with a full CAI/H/Hi-flo-cat/E setup; the CAI on its own is NOT going to give you 15 whp.
