no thats too thick of a grit..use like an 800 wet sand paper....you dont have to use a block..i prefer hand, aslong as you can sand evenly...you can also try blocking the piece, which say the lip is white, spray black spraypaint on it in a mist, then you know when you sand off the black all over you hit all the spots.
