Yes, now is the time. Even if you chose not to lighten, you should have it resurfaced. With a lightened flywheel, you lose low end torque, but it revs up faster. That is why I went with the type-R flywheel ($170). It is lighter, maybe 12 lbs, I can't remember, but not too light. IMO 8.8 lbs is too light. I remember people saying they had difficulty going up hills with a super light flywheel.

4 or 5 years ago there were alot of discussions and posted experiences about this. Maybe you can find more info in the archives if they go back that far.
