Let's put it this way. I've been seriously thinking about getting one of the Ford SportTrac or a Dodge Dakata Quadcab (trading in the Saturn wagon for it). the pilot can tow 3,500 lbs and costs 26k...a little more expensive than the explorer...there's also a waiting list for pilots and depending on the dealer can run up to 6 months
