Think about it this way: The cam gear is meant to replace the stock one, therefore it must fit on the stock cam, and the cam is made to replace the stock one and accept the stock gear, by doing this they should without a problem be able to accept each other. I run a Zex stage 1 and a Skunk2 cam gear and it's perfect.
I recommending running the same brand gear, cam, and valvetrain. A lot of companies will deny warranty claims if you mix and match.
