it could cost that much, if you dont get the quaife. you really dont need it. i know turbo ls with out quaife that run low 13 with just clutch and pressure plate. I don't like the rsx that much either, i've driven one, its about as fast as an si.
The effects of the quaife are felt primarily in the car's handling characteristics; it has a pretty minimal effect on 1/4 mile times. With that said it's definitely an excellent upgrade in the handling department.
