Clearance is definitely something to consider.
I'm running a 1.75"-2" (after settle) drop on my car...and the winters are not kind to the front engine bay covers (the ones underneath). In regards to getting stuck and stuff...I've had no problems in 1.5 winters (in Toronto) that I've driven while dropped. I'm currently looking for a new setup as well to compensate for the winters.
