if its high mileage I would check the pickup sensor, or trigger or whatever its called in the dist, I replaced the cap rotor coil and my car still did that. got a whole new dizzy and bam fixed. might or had a cracked dist housing though idk forsure, could also be a dirty injector, intake leak, tps reading off a bit, low compression in one or 2 cyl, plugged cat, if it has egr valve check it aint pluged or stuck open some of these throw engine codes you got a check engine light on? or my personal favorite.. rusted/corroded ground. check things out grab a multimeter, service manual or google and have at er, good luck man
