What is the best kind of bondo and where is the best place to get it from.

Is there any specific temp. you have to use for it to work right? It basically is the same thing as putty, but for your car,right?

I'm going to shave the front hood emblem, but need to fill in the holes. Here's my plan:
Remove emblem
Clean the area
Sand it down(what grade sandpaper should I use??)
Fill the holes with bondo(How long does it need to dry??)
Smooth it down
Spray paint adheision 2 coats
Spray flat back 2 coats

Do I need a clearcoat as well?
