So you can get a civic and have to modify it to make it faster. Or get a Prelude that is already fast and just has to be enjoyed.

My eye's that's a pretty simple decision... depends if you really into getting a common everyday car and moding it or if you just want to go with the higher class car right from the get go. If you want to mess with it or if you want to just take it home and enjoy.

I'd look at it like getting something home and having to work on it right away to get it to be what you want versus getting something home and being able to enjoy it right away. Could also look at it, are you looking for performance or economy. I do believe that one of the fastest Honda's on Earth is a Civic... yes a highly modified Civic... BUT... it's got a Prelude engine. Something to think about if your going for performance.
