I would highly recommend hoodpins. Case in point:

Highly modded VR6 at Thunderhill Raceway popped his C/F hood to show us his engine bay. Forgot to secure the hoodpins afterwards. On the first lap his hood went flying into his windshield and smashed it. Of course this was on a roadcourse, but either way I would just get them for peace of mind.
