You can lift the tray cover without removing the case. You have to open the case to get to the button.

- That console is NOT 6 months old. It's more like 3.5 years. That's the first version of the shell, which was phased out in starting July of 2010.
- HDMI was introduced in August of 2008
- The final hardware revision for that case ("Jasper", 65nm CPU & GPU) is a monster. I've gamed on mine for hundreds of hours, no problems at all. Anything before the "Jasper" will RROD, no questions about it.
Not to argue but the faceplate comes off easily as does the tray casing. What may have happened was they swapped the face with an aftermarket one (common) but when they went to swap it back they couldn't find the original faceplate and grabbed a white set from someone else. My comment was more towards checking the main case for tampering since that would indicate it may be modded inside and even banned from online.
