I like my Nest gen. 2 a lot! The learning capabilities are great and the manual programming is super easy. It looks great on the wall.

It's nice to be able to adjust from my iPhone and iPad. I no longer have to get out of bed in the middle of the night if I want to adjust the temp. If I forget to set it to away, I can do it wherever I am with my iPhone. I can turn it back on during my drive back home so my place is at temp when I get back if I'm getting back at an unscheduled time. If you have a somewhat regular schedule, it'll learn when you're home and not by the motion sensor and automatically set the unit to away or home. It will learn how long it takes to heat and cool your place so it will be at temp by the time you want. It learns when to shut off the AC compressor and cycle the remaining cool air through to save energy.

It was rather expensive but I'm very happy with it.
