These are 2 way speakers.

Why don't you check out Pioneer Premiers? I was looking at those before I decided on Alpine Type-Rs. To me they sounded pretty bright. I personally felt the Type-Rs sounded more full so I went with them, but, your tastes could be different. Pioneer Premiers are cheaper also. They're also 3 way (note that for 2 ways and 3 ways that are equal price, the 2 ways will be higher quality since 2 ways are harder to make)
